Nigerian singer, Joeboy has debunked claims by a section of Nigerians that his new song ‘Alcohol’ is to promote alcoholism. Despite having a successful run with the song, there has been a lot of mixed reactions from social media users who have shared varied thoughts about the song. The song has been used by some people for TikTok videos and in the videos, they drank alcohol and poured all sorts of harmful liquor on their bodies.
In an interview with Genius monitored by Ghbase, Joeboy born Akinfenwa Donus shot down claims that he intended to promote alcoholism with his new song and he averred that people need breaks but running away from them will not solve their problems. According in his words being tipsy inspired ‘Alcohol’. There are different challenges in life; it never ends. There is always something one needs to fix or solve. I am not encouraging alcoholism in any way but I understand that people need breaks but trying to run away from one’s problems won’t fix them at the end of the day.” Speaking on the buzz his song is getting a few days after its release
Joeboy said;
“I was a bit nervous before the song was released because I was not sure if people were going to accept it. It is totally different from what I normally do. The reception has been amazing so far. It is my biggest charting song since the beginning of my career.”
