The SUN FM Kwacha Music Awards are a creation of Sun FM Radio and an Awards Committee drawn from the Music Industry, Radio Djs and Corporate Organisations. The first annual Sun Fm Kwacha Music Awards were held on 30th September 2017.
Xyz Entertainment artiste – Bobby East and Alpha Entertainments artiste – Chef 187 now own more awards than any other artiste. Chef 187 has 5 awards as well as Bobby East. Other artists who have more Kwacha Music Awards are Slapdee, Macky 2 & Yo Maps who all have 4 awards each.
In the year 2017, The big winner at the awards ceremony was Chef 187 with 3 awards. Slapdee got 2 awards while Macky 2 got 1. However, Bobby East & Yo Maps wasn’t norminated. Other winners at the Kwacha Music Awards for the year 2017 were : Best female went to Cleo Ice Queen , Best Male New Comer went to Daev, Best international achievement award went to Roberto, Best Sound Production Went To Mr Stash.
For the year 2018, Artists like Mampi, Chef 187, Jay Rox withdrew their nominations. The big winner at the 2018 awards ceremony was Bobby East who got 3 Awards. Yo Maps got his first normination but didn’t get the award. Macky 2 got 2 awards while Slapdee got 1.
This year’s (2019) Kwacha Music Awards took place successfully. No artiste withdrew his/her nomination. The big winner was Yo Maps who got 4 awards. Slapdee & Macky 2 got 1 award each while Bobby East and Chef 187 got 2 Awards.
